BROOKE HUDD

Brooke was born in Miami, Florida, and currently lives just outside of Washington, DC.  In between, she's lived in Bogota, Colombia; Monterey, California; Damascus, Syria; and a suburb of New York City.  She's also traveled widely abroad, to England, Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, and Thailand.

Brooke started classical piano lessons at the age of five, and added jazz piano during her teenage years.  She played numerous solo piano gigs before ever starting to sing professionally.  As a result, her music is instrumentally far richer than most singer/songwriters who accompany themselves on guitar.

Although currently not performing, in the past Brooke played regularly in coffee houses, bars/restaurants, outdoor festivals, and private functions.

Brooke's voice is a strong and versatile alto, which has been described as 'very moving, even heartbreaking' in its qualities.  Whether it's a jazz standard, classic rock tune, or one of her originals, she makes a song her own with powerful, lyrical, and original interpretations.  She has received numerous comments from listeners that her version of a certain song is now their favorite.

Brooke's first CD, "Songs Without Words", is a set of solo piano versions of a wide range of music which highlights her chops and lyrical sensibility.  Selections include an ancient Irish folk tune, variations on a Baroque favorite, a handful of jazz standards and American songbook tunes, a few pop classics from the 60's onward, and one original.

On her second CD, "Songs to be Sung", Brooke performs a wide range of songs while accompanying herself on piano.  No overdubs, simply recorded live in a studio, just like what you'd hear if you heard her play live.  From Cole Porter and George Gershwin, to the Beatles, to some classic rock tunes from more current times, she puts her own stamp onto fifteen songs you've almost certainly heard before, but never like this.

Brooke's latest CD, "The Way It Goes", is a ten-song set of original tunes full of catchy hooks and powerful choruses, with a full band behind her for the first time.  Produced by Dave Mallen at Innovation Station Music studios, each song is unique--this isn't a songwriter whose songs all sound 'kind of the same'.  From dance-pop anthems, to guitar-driven hard rock, to heart-breaking ballads, to gorgeous love songs, this CD has it all.

Enjoy the music!
